Sure the bailouts are unpopular but imagine an additional 12 million out work. Now if we can keep Congress from spending the revenues as the economy recovers.

    If you want a good behind the scenes account, read Hank Paulson's book. Gave me a lot more respect for some of the players involved. And a lot less for others, namely McCain and Palin. I had long thought well of McCain but his conduct during the financial crisis was childish at best.

    People accuse Paulson of helping his banker buddies out he really held thier feet to the fire and made them swallow some bitter medicine.
